Collection Overhaul

WelshProgrammer June 21, 2026

I apologise for the delay in updating the collection.

I've had a lot of personal life things going on that have kept me from working on the collection as much as I would have liked.

Despite this, I have been working on a major overhaul of the collection system, which has been a long-term goal of mine.

This overhaul will bring significant improvements to the way I manage my collection and update the website.

Basically, I have written a bunch of code that will now automatically synchronise the website with Snipe-IT, which is the software that I now use to manage my collection. In a few weeks, when I am satisfied that the process works like it should, I will enable a job to regenerate the site content every Monday and Thursday.

Previously I had to manually write a page for the website using data from the database, which was tedious and error-prone.

Now I can write the content and upload any files like images to the database, and the website will automatically update.

I've also written some software that will allow me to import data from various stores where I shop, into Snipe-IT, so I can easily keep my collection up to date rather than having to manually enter the data.

Right now, I'm fully caught up with the backlog of items that needed cataloguing, though I am still working on improving/cleaning the metadata and removing potential duplicates of items that I have already catalogued manually in the past.

I also need to go through each of my assembled systems and re-catalogue the internal components, since some parts may have been swapped and I didn't update the database.

Thanks for your patience!
